Prior to the 1967 Loving v. Virginia case, there were a number of key precedents that paved the road towards the repealing of anti-miscegenation laws. Despite the many of the failed court precedents, Loving v. Virginia was the legislative innovation that reversed the unfavorable court proceedings of previous miscegenation related cases.
